Gerry van Nuland (64) is making excellent progress on all fronts
"I was told in the hospital that I had to learn to live with my complaints"
“Sometimes, when I tell outsiders how well I have progressed after only 4 treatments at the Functional Neurology Institute, it strikes me how implausible that might seem to them. I can hardly believe it myself. It’s like a miracle. Fortunately, the people in my immediate surroundings can also see that I am improving by leaps and bounds." So says Gerry van Nuland (64), who, with a flair for understatement, recounts his shopping list of medical complaints.
Prostate cancer and streptococcal bacteria
"I have had prostate cancer and contracted streptococcal bacteria during or after surgery causing severe pain in my shoulder blade." Although the antibiotic treatment in the hospital did help, the pain did not entirely go away. In fact, all kinds of side effects occurred, affecting among other things his intestines and adrenal glands, which disrupted his metabolism. "And I developed an autoimmune condition." Apart from the pain in his right shoulder, the number of complaints led to Gerry being permanently exhausted. "I run an administrative and consultancy agency and was used to working 80 hours a week every now and then. Effortless. But I couldn’t anymore. I had no energy at all. I even had to sit down and recover for a good 15 minutes after every meal."
Learning to live with complaints
In the hospital, Gerry was told he had to learn to live with his complaints. “But that didn’t sit well with me at all." When an acquaintance told Gerry about his positive experiences with the Functional Neurology Institute in Lisse, he directly made an appointment. "What still stands out in my mind is that the professional specialist, Ronald van der Kuil, immediately noticed that I have an eye problem. Which is true. About five years ago I suffered a retinal detachment and now I no longer produce tear fluid and am extremely sensitive to light. So I had to take eye drops 2 to 3 times an hour."
Deviation to the right
The professional specialist had me do a series of balancing exercises, among other things, upon which he immediately made a diagnosis, says Gerry. "My cerebellum, my little brain, appeared to be slightly deviated to the right." When Gerry heard the diagnosis, bits of the puzzle fell into place. "I have always deviated slightly to the right. During my military service, for instance, I invariably fired slightly to the right of where I was aiming." After a few minor neurological disorder treatments, Gerry was introduced to the GyroStim. This is a high-tech computer-controlled chair that can rotate around its axes in different, helping clinicians to cure patients of their neurological complaints.
Improved blood values
Gerry was prescribed Flamex to counteract inflammatory responses in the gastrointestinal tract, and XO-7 (high-quality salmon oil) with visible improvement as a result. "It really is a miracle how much better I feel after only four treatments. The pain in my shoulder is considerably less and I have much more energy. I really feel so much better on all fronts. Take my eyes, for instance. Instead of taking eye drops 2 to 3 times an hour, I now only need them 2 to 3 times a day. And my blood values have improved spectacularly,” says Gerry, referring to the measurements taken by the professional specialist before and after treatment with the GyroStim. "My oxygen uptake has improved a lot, as have my blood thickness and my blood pressure. That was 156 over 110 and now, four treatments later, it’s 123 over 78. That's tremendous for someone my age."
Blockade removed
Significantly for Gerry, his naturopath, who he visits alongside the Functional Neurology Institute, also concludes that he has made impressive progress. "She has established that the original obstructions between my cells, caused by my autoimmune disease and the many antibiotics I had been taking, have now completely dissipated. This means that vitamins are getting through again, giving me much more energy - so much energy that I can easily cycle 80 kilometres with my cycling club on Sunday mornings."
Addressing the cause
Gerry notices an important difference between mainstream medical science and the approach of the Functional Neurology Institute. "In the hospital, the symptoms are treated, but the cause of ailment is not addressed. The Functional Neurology Institute takes a fundamentally different approach. There the cause is the starting point for the treatment they prescribe. Moreover, they also expressly consider if and how different complaints are interconnected, whereas specialists in the hospital limit themselves to their own particular field. I am so glad I took the step to go to Lisse.”
